Higher and Higher, Baby!

As part of my new year's resolutions I am trying to come up with some fun ideas for our monthly dates! Last year our go to date was Disneyland. Now that our passes have expired we need to get creative!
We went on our January date last weekend and we had so much fun!

I got a groupon for Hangar 18 an indoor rock climbing gym! I had never been before and I will definately be going back.

I was impressed by Nick's ability to climb! He conquered a part of the wall that I was only able to get up about 2 feet. Pathetic. I tried so hard and so many times! I kept falling off and I felt like Tarzan swinging from the vines. So failing was actually fun, good thing Nick kept the rope tight! I'll get you next time super sloped wall!

Also, my dad is helping me is making a special project for a special little guy. Here is a sneak preview:

I will post when it's all done! Koda can't wait!

First Crafts of 2012!

In my last post I told you I've made 3 crafts this year, so here they are.

I've decided to start early on any holiday decorating I want to do. Christmas came and passed so quick and I completed ZERO Christmas projects for my home. Sad. Sad. Sad. Especially after falling in love with so many awesome projects on pinterest.
So in preparation for Valentines Day I made these pillows for our papasan:

Amy from Diary of a Quilter did an awesome guest post at Ucreate on how to make the pillow on top. It was an easy project and didn't take long at all. I used the same technique to make the "LOVE" pillow to go with it.

Next, one of the littles from church was baptized Saturday. I found this tutorial on The Rachel Berry Blog for how to make a CTR towel and she also has a cute poem to go with it. I went to Walmart and bought a towel and figured I could use some fabric scraps I had at home. When I got home I could only find girly flowery fabrics. Not going to work for a boy. Then I rememberd a green apron I made 6 YEARS AGO! Yep, I still had some leftover fabric! Yay! So save your fabric scraps! They WILL come in handy some day. And pinterest has some great ideas on how to store these in an organized way.

And for my last project I used my precious Silhouette! This is my first time using heat transfer vinyl to make a t-shirt and I loved how it turned out. And even though I reminded myself a million times to flip the image before cutting ... I forgot. But at least I don't have any words on my shirt so it wasn't too bad. Is anyone else completely obsessed with the Hunger Games? I am so excited for the movie! And please ignore my awkwardness, sadly this picture was the least awkward of all the ones I tried to take hah!

New Year's Resolutions

It's that time again! Time to make my new year's resolutions ...
well, actually that time was a week ago but I put it off. Maybe my resolution should be not to procrastinate ... naw maybe next year.

In 2012 I want to ....
1. Read The Book of Mormon - We are teaching our primary kiddies from The Book of Mormon this year. I want to encourage them to read at home and be able to tell them I am doing the same.
2. Complete 52 crafty crafts - I will be keeping track of these on pinterest by changing the captions to "DONE 2012 craft # xx"  I've already done 3 this year so 49 to go!
3. Go to the gym 3 times a week - time to get fit :)
4. Have Koda take and pass the CGC test
5. Go on a planned date with Nicholas every month
This will NOT be me ... this year
I am excited to keep track of my goals and see what this year has in store for me!

Time to Declutter!

Happy New Year everyone!

The holidays are over and I finally have a spare moment to clean the chaos I call "home." I find myself asking how did my house get in this condition in the 6 months we've lived here? I want to get organized. I NEED to get organized! I don't want to be featured on an episode of "Hoarders" hah! I loved this guest post from iheart Organizing. Just what I needed to get me going.

Also, I got a gym membership! Yayayay! They offer so many classes that look like a lot of fun! I can't wait to check them out.

Umm ... did I mention Nick got me a special present?
About a month ago a big box came in the mail.
And in that box was .....

a bag!
And in that bag was .....

a Silhouette SD!!! Weeeeee!!!!!
I am so so happy with it! This machine is incredible!

Yesterday I made a Christmas gift for my sister-in-law. I loved how it came out and it was so easy!

Mom had made one of these at a relief society activity. I loved it and had to copy it.

I am working on another project for another sister-in-law now. It should be done today :] And then I will make my mom's birthday pressie! I will let you know how they turn out!

busy busy busy

Christmas is almost here!!!
We bought and wraped most of our presents and we got a {fresh, yay!} Christmas tree ... but there is still so much to do!
I want to make another rag quilt for baby cousin! I have the fabric now I just need to find time to put it all together.

But for now I will settle for writing a blog post update on what we've been up to!

Over Thanksgiving weekend I got to see my bestie KelKel!!! Yayayayay!
We went to dinner and then went to Barnes and Noble like old times. In high school our go to places to hang out were Barnes and Noble and Target where we would spend hours being silly. We also got together with our good friend Chelsea!

While we girls gabbed away we found our husbands reading Star Wars books to each other haha how cute!

Poor Scotty (Kelsey's husband) looks so tired!
It was so good to see them! After years of seeing Kelsey on a daily basis we are down to about 2 times a year :( Thankfully we have things like skype and blogs to keep us updated in eachothers lives!

Last week Nick and I went to opening night of Wicked at the Pantages Theatre. I love getting dressed up and going to the theatre! The musical was AMAZING! I loved loved loved it!!! Too bad our cameras aren't working so we didn't get any pictures. Guss we'll just have to go again so we can document the experience haha

In other news, I tried out some new recipes from Pinterest which I highly recomend!

The Oreo Truffles were so so easy to make and everyone loved them! You can find the recipe here.
And the forzen hot chocolate is my new favorite thing to make! So yummy! That recipe can be found here. My husband is a big fan now too!

And last but definately not least, we got to meet our baby niece! We're so happy to have the newest addition the the family with us for the holidays!

Thanks Emily for the not so subtle hint to update my blog :)  Sorry this post is so long!
